Galina Petkova – Bulgaria

Visual Artist, Psychologist

My name is Galina Petkova. I am from Bulgaria. I am an artist and psychologist. I use my emotions in my pictures. I use old newspapers and many colors. I think expressing emotion is good for the artist and for my paintings.

I work with children who have so little, who have Downs Syndrome or autism or cerebral palsy. These children give me more emotion and I give to them, too. I think their souls are so strong, and they give to me more and more and more; and I give to them, too, more and more and more. It is too difficult, but this is my job. Everyday when I work work with these children, I lose part of myself and I give of me. And they give of themselves to me.
