Gianfranco Scafidi – Italy

I am Gianfranco Scafidi from Italy. In this moment I am working with Greek stone (marble). At night I come here to look at the stone with a candle, a little fire, because, like Gian Lorenzo Bernini, if you look at the sculpture with a little fire and you move the light, the contrast of the light and the shadow tells you where the sculpture breathes life and where the sculpture is not good.

To speak of me, I must speak of art; and to speak of art, I must speak of me. They are the same. I am an artist who uses the contemporary languages of art, like installation, like video, like performance and more, because I think that art is not method, but is a brain work. Art is an expression of the brain on the work and is the greatest communicator.
