Garry Laurent I’m Garry Laurent. I’m from Petion Ville, Haiti. I started drawing when I was a child, only four years old. By the time I started school, I had already begun drawing and I continued until I was twenty-one when I met a great Haitian painter Ralph Allen. He taught me how to use colors correctly—or (laughter) somehow…you use colors as you want—but he taught me techniques about using colors. Now I work in a modern style. What I’m trying to do in my work is to please—no, not to please, I don’t know how to say it. When you look at my work, it should make you happy. It should make you feel good when you look at my paintings. That is what I am trying to do. What I can say more is I am a producer. I make video movies, documentary films. I have these two passions. I want to do them extremely well and to let the world know about me and my work. That is what I am trying to do. Email: glaurent72@hotmail.com |
