Carmen Vasile - Romania

I’m Carmen Vasile. My discipline is opera. I’m singing opera and, at the same time, I’m teaching opera. As a singer, I’m doing a new genre of opera called monoopera. In this genre I have a new way of flights in many, many different ways that before were not known. I’m alone on the stage, but at the same time, I’m doing many characters. For instance, in Kalevala I’m doing the character of Vainamoinen, the oldest man on earth, and Joukaheinen, and the mother of the guard . It is a kind of rebirth of the epoch when Homer was telling many stories and in the same time acting many characters and what they say.

At the same time I am teaching opera class, but with my students I try to find new ways of acting, new ways of understanding the classic genre of opera.
