Acknowledgements
Grateful acknowledgement is made to the artists who have given voice, allowing for the reproduction of their words and works, and without whom, there would be no Voices Underground. For technical support I am indebted to Julius Vitali. Nor would the project be realized without the cooperation and support of Europos Parkas, its staff, and particularly its president Gintaras Karosas.
Thank you to Santa Fe Art Institute and Vermont Studio Center for giving me a place, uninterrupted time, and access to many of the participating artists.
Financial support from Puffin Foundation and from artist Louise Hicks is truly appreciated.
Thank you to Gintare Kaukyte, Zana Keida, Mariana Markun for their hard work and good spirits during the creation of this earthwork at Europos Parkas, and to Rebecca Ballestra for documenting it on film.
